Sterling, IL (January 13, 2020) – The Illinois State Police have released information regarding an accident on Interstate 39 that took place on Saturday, January 11th. The crash involved a 2005 red Pontiac Grand Am and a semi-truck.

The driver of the Pontiac Grand Am, identified as a 15-year-old, lost control of the vehicle on a slick surface where the car collided with a semi. The Grand Am was lodged beneath the semi.

In the car, riding as a passenger with the teen driver was a 41-year-old man identified as Kevin Lawrence. Both the teen driver and Lawrence were treated at the scene for injuries sustained after the crash.

It is unclear if the driver of the semi sustained injuries in this accident.

Kevin Lawrence was cited for allowing the minor to operate the motor vehicle. The minor was given 4 citations from authorities.
