The Rockford Police Department, the Rockford Fire Rescue Units were on scene as well as other emergency first responders. There were at least four ambulances reported at the scene.
According to Rockford Fire, an extrication from one of the vehicles was required for at least one victim. The RPD reported that there were three cars in the multi-vehicle crash and 6 people were injured requiring transportation to the local hospital for treatment.
The RPD has not reported what factors lead to the accident and are still investigating.
