Rockford, IL (December 5, 2019) – The Cherry Valley Fire Department was called to a fire at an apartment building located on Linden Road on December 5th in Rockford. Multiple Fire Trucks units from several nearby firehouses rushed to the scene to assist the Cherry Valley Fire Department.
The incident took place early on Thursday morning at approximately 6:45 am at 4979 Linden Road, #1226. Reports indicate that a female was trapped in the burning apartment fire and was not able to escape.
Many victims required rescue but information on sustained injuries has not been released. The authorities confirmed that there was one fatality. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
The cause of the fire is unknown, the investigation remains ongoing.
