According to reports, an intoxicated 17-year old male stole an SUV and lost control of it as it crashed into two other cars as well as a minivan. The driver of the SUV was identified as 17-year-old Jakel D. Jones. Jones was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and causing injury. The Fitchburg teen was driving a 2011 Ford Edge which was stolen out of Stoughton. He was headed south on U.S. 51 when he lost control of the SUV and crossed into oncoming traffic.
A Chevrolet Astro minivan was the first vehicle hit and then Jones spun into a Volkswagon Jetta and a Chrysler Sebring. After the crash, part of U.S. Highway 51 near McFarland was closed for an hour and a half. The incident remains under investigation. The Sherriff’s office indicated there could be more charges coming for the teen.
