Approximately 3 people sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The severity of the injuries has not been reported. It is unknown if any of the injured parties required transportation to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities with the Janesville Police Department were on the scene. JPD blocked off the accident scene closing the northbound lanes from traffic while they investigated. A fuel spill took place and time was needed for cleanup.
At 2:30 p.m. the lanes were still not reopened but a State Patrol spokesman said that they would be opened back up shortly. Traffic was routed up the exit ramp and down the entrance ramp on the other side of Racine Street as a result of the road closures.
The incident was called in during the afternoon on Wednesday at approximately 12:24 p.m. It is unclear at this time when the lanes were re-opened.
JPD is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured party in hopes of a full recovery.
